| .: Malaysia Singapore Second Crossing | ||
UEMC was the main contractor for the Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing (MSSC) comprising a 2 km bridge; 44 km of expressways; a Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex; toll plazas; rest and service areas and other ancillary facilities. The bridge itself is the widest in Malaysia and it provided UEMC with the opportunity to work at the forefront of technology and acquire expertise in deep-water bridge design and construction. The RM1.4 billion MSSC project was completed on schedule and well within the original budget estimates. Another UEMC’s expressways portfolio is the Putrajaya Interchange and an ancillary 8.8 km dual 2 lane road (Putrajaya Link). The Putrajaya Interchange is a critical link between Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, the Government Administration Centre, and the KLIA. With 80% of its alignment on peat soils, there were engineering constraints to overcome in construction and the requirement to maintain the eco-system of the pristine natural environment. This was achieved through a minimum environment impact approach, with construction activities specifically designed to reduce earthworks and changes to the water courses in the area. |
