UEMC's mettle is an engineering and construction company was proven when it participated as part of a team in the construction of the 848 km North-South Expressway (NSE) traversing the entire length of peninsular west coast. The RM6.7 billion NSE links major cities and town in seven states along the west coast. Along its route are 73 interchanges, 411 bridges and overpasses, 18 rest and service areas, 46 lay-bys and over 60 toll plazas. Construction was carried out in difficult terrain, that ranged from peat swamp, virgin jungle to granite hills and posed considerable logistics, technical and engineering problems. Notwithstanding these challenges, progress was made at the rate of 100 km per year for the project to be completed 15 months ahead of schedule

UEMC also built the 48 km North-South Expressway Central Link (NSECL) which allows travelers on the NSE to by-pass the traffic congestion of Kuala Lumpur and provides a direct link to the KLIA
