The North-South Expressway (NSE) firmly established UEM Builders’ reputation as an integrated engineering and construction entity.
Divided into several packages, the works involved, among others, the construction of the expressway pavement, shoulder, frontage roads and bridges as well as the laying of asphaltic pavement.
Totaling some 846 km in length, it is the peninsula’s main road artery stretching from Thailand in the north to Singapore in the south.
The alignment of the NSE cuts through an array of geological characteristics and terrain, posing considerable logistical, technical and engineering challenges in its construction.
The expressway also involved the construction of several bridges spanning major rivers.
